ALBUM, Scrapbook, 1937

Large rectangular burgundy coloured scrapbook with embossed border and image on front cover of 5 rabbits in blue jumpsuits underneath a tree. 'ALBUM' printed in khaki in centre of front cover. Cover appears to be varnished(?) plastic-like material. Contains 90 yellowed pages, all of which have been separated from their binding and are now loose. Scrapbook pages mainly covered in cut out newspaper articles adhered to both sides by sticky tape and other substances. Articles mainly relating to women's cricket in Australia and scrapbook owner, Marie Jegust, primarily featuring articles on the 1937 Australian tour of England. Articles include titles such as 'SHE MUST BE OUR FIRST TEST TOURIST' and 'GRAND TOUR for/Girl Cricketers'. Also included are some postcards and souvenir booklets from the tour of England in 1937 and also a souvenir program from a Women's International Cricket match in November 1948. There are 9 congratulatory telegrams 1936 for Marie Jegust's selection into the Australian women's cricket team. Several articles c. 1972 relate to a strike by male painters following the employment of Marie Jegust and her sister Ruby as non-union painters. Also contains several loose newspaper articles and A4 pages.
