H1998.56
Rectangular embroidered firescreen, framed and backed in dark wood and mounted on two low hemispherical legs, scalloped shape. Embroidery on white cloth. Parallel vertical patterned lines in oranges, pink, greys and browns. Horizontal patterns in top and bottom sections of cloth, 'framing' the vertical patterns. Wood polished or varnished. Wooden frame lined on interior with thin wood reinforcements. Half of reinforcement at base has been broken off. Metal staples hold the cloth to the wooden backing. Silk used for embroidery.
