POISING TOOL IN BOX

Poising tool in box. The box is lined with velvet and reads 'J.W. DUNKERTON/ WATCHMAKER AND JEWELLER/ 63 MARKET STREET/ FREMANTLE'. The poising tool is spring loaded with straight edged jaws and small pegs to rest a balance. To run accurately a balance must be in perfect poise, all points of the rim must be of equal mass so that no heavy point seeks the bottom. This tool was used to test for heavy spots.
