PLAQUE, American Servicemen

Plaque has a wood base on which is secured a black metal plate with an all-round black and gold decorated border of diagonal gold lines and a finish slightly resembling marble. Gold lettering on smooth centre reads 'THANK YOU/ WESTERN AUSTRALIA/ FOR MANY MEMORIES DOWN UNDER,/ YOUR WARM AND FRIENDLY/ ATMOSPHERE, HOPITALITY AND/ FRIENDSHIP YOU GAVE THE/ AMERICAN SERVICE MEN DURING/ WORLD WAR II/ U.S.S. PELIAS A.S. 14 SUBMARINE TENDER/ COY MILLER U.S.S./ LIBERAL, KANSAS U.S.A.' Attached is a smaller plaque below, of gold metal, mounted on black plastic material which reads 'DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF "BIRDIE" AND "CORNIE", (MRS INA BIRD AND MRS DOLL CORNISH) OF EAST VICTORIA PARK W.A.'. Smaller plaque was added later (ring Mrs Bunty Wilson 9367 4141).
A piece of paper taped to back of object reads 'MRS HOLTHAM/ 310 5279'.
