RAZOR STROP, ROLLS
H1994.234
Oblong silver-coloured metal case, flat with rounded corners, with strips of Greek key pattern on each main side. A button on each end releases a flat panel on each side. On the underside of one panel is leather; on the underside of the other is a sharpening stone. When one panel is relaxed and removed it reveals a handle secured to the unit by a bar with a cog at each end which is fixed into grooves in the unit. A shaving blade can be attached to this bar, then the handle is pulled to drag the blade across the leather or store suface beneath (depending on which panel remains). The unit can be used from either side. A small metal handle with cross-thatch pattern stored in the unit is of unkown purpose - perhaps from a separate razor (.2)
