Blue and red plush toy, a Smurf, known as Papa Smurf, with red hat and white beard. One of three Smurf toys given to Helen's children by her aunt, Fran Doust. This was Tim's Smurf. The Smurfs were kept on the children's beds. Helen has kept Jeremy's Smurf, a boy Smurf. Smurfs were very successful promotional souvenirs of BP in Australia for four or five years from 1 September 1979. (Info from Ian Unmach, BP in Melb tel 03 268 4554). The most popular smurfs were the approx. 5cm plastic smurf toys sold at BP service stations. There was also a USA made cartoon series about the Smurfs. Label removed, presumably similar to H90.0023 From a collection of toys used by Helen's children who were all born at Woodside Hospital in Dalgety St, East Fremantle. Meredith Jane, born 5 Mar 1968 Timothy Lewis and his twin brother, Jeremy Francis, born 5 July 1971.
