a. Box is covered in marbled grey paper. Inside it has a wooden rack for holding letters, which has 8 grooves. Inside the lid letters and words have been stamped using the kit. 'F.P. ROGERS' is stamped on the lid. b. There are 234 letters and punctuation marks. Each consists of a rubber letter mounted on a rubber? block. c. Stamp with four grooves for mounting letters. It is made of varnished timber with metal grooves and a timber handle painted black. The stamp is set up with the following letters. 'B J. Ingle, / 25 Harley, Highgate' d. The stamp pad is gold coloured on the outside and silver on the inside. It has rusted badly around the ink pad. It appears to have contained blue ink. Roughly engraved into the base of the pad is 'F Rogers / Remedial / Centre'. The toys were used by Miss Frances Rogers. Miss Rogers, born on 19 Oct 1904, went to Teacher's College in 1930 and joined the Education Department of W.A. in 1934. Between 1934 and her retirement in 1967, she taught at various country schools, took special classes for deaf and dumb children in Mosman Park, and classes for mentally and physically disabled children in Leederville. She also made and purchased a large collection of puppets which were used as teaching aids. These are accessioned under numbers H88/613 to H89/307 (not inclusive).
