ICE BAG, medicinal

H1989.364

Flat, circular bag, dark ochre in colour, with 7cm metal screw top, capped opening in centre - top side, for filling with ice (iced water). Branded "SIMPLIC (Reg.) / MADE IN ENGLAND / 9 ". This ice bag was used in nursing KRH, c.1910+ for applying 'cold' compress to patient's injury. Also for 'headaches' and 'fevers' and to stop bleeding. Could have also appeared in home nursing kit.
