Large balance scale - weighing platform at floor level; weights 2 x 4 stone, 3 stone, 2 stone, 1 stone, 1/2 stone plus 7 pounds (with ounces marked) for extra adjustment on horizontal balance bar. The balance bar protrudes at right angles from vertical pole. "MELBOURNE SCALE CO" on base. Used by Fonti Cheese (part of Elite Foods) for 30 years to weigh cheese till 1983 when Culpeppers merged with Elite Foods to form Culpeppers - Elite who used scales for 3 years for weighing nuts and spices. It was not new when Fonti Cheese acquired it.
