Portable writing desk with light wood veneer with darker inlay centre and lacquered central motif. Inlay repeated on front. Red velvet covered writing surface. With lift up compartment. 5 small compartments along front, 3 with lids. Central compartment contains one nib. In black ink on inner compartment: 'William Charles/Rutland. Born/Janry 1st/1858 Jany 1 1908/Claudia Louisa Rutland/Born Dec 16 1867/A.E. Rutland 1905.'
