BRIDGE CLOCK, SS "Ceramic"

This is the Bridge Clock of the Shaw Savill Liner SS "Ceramic" - in her prime, the longest ship to enter Fremantle Harbour. The Clock was bought from the salvage company when the ship was broken up, by the then 2nd Officer, Mr C.A. Knox. Mr Knox was born in Fremantle and went to sea as a cadet on the Bay Liner "Hobson's Bay" at the age of 18. He now lives in retirement in London. The "Ceramic" (Shaw Savill Line) was built by Campbell Laird at Birkham Head in 1949 and registered at Southampton, England.
