Black velvet garment to cover shoulders.

Addition 27.3.78:
Patterned black cotton lining, 'curly' braid around top. Ties at each side fasten under arms & behind back to form cape. Press stud on front section. No side seams.

Addition 21/7/82:
Info from Neil Hunsley. block pomme velvet cape - middle 30's - very hard to date. Date 1935.

Addition 31.1.86:
Square cape, Early 20th century. Cape of black silk velvet, lined with floral-textured sateen; cut somewhat like a poncho, as a loose square of fabric with neck opening trimmed with astrakan-style braid; closes at front with a single press stud; tapes at sides to tie around waist. LY
