DRESS, Evening

Short evening dress, black wool skirt. Black velvet (with gold thread) bodice and sash, was originally full length velvet evening dress. Skirt changed later.
Addition 21/7/82 - 'Hand-painted gold mesh on block pomme velvet. Cowl neckline with bishop sleeves. I can't really believe that the skirt was originally on the dress (it is wool challis). If it was then it must have been shortened around 1940. I rather tend to assume it has been added on.' (Neil Hunsley).
