PHOTOGRAPH, Framed. Fremantle Asylum Staff

CH1970.922

Obtained from Sir Frederick. The woman in grey seated second from the left was the matron. She was born circa 1830. Her maiden name was Annie McTellegate. She married Peter Le Bere and was probably Annie Le Bere at the time the photo was taken. She later married Mr Fay. The man with one leg sitting in the cane chair may have been the mayor of Fremantle. The photograph was given to Sir Frederick Samson to make a collection of Fremantle photos by May Hannah. The above information was provided by Wendy Agar (ph. 332 7420) Annie Le Bere's great granddaughter. May Hannah was her grandmother's sister.
