The wet bell is a simple diving bell that provides the user with a secure base as well as breathing space underwater. It is supplied with air and communications via an umbilical cord and also carries its own independent air supply for emergencies. A wet bell is used when divers are working from a dynamically positioned (or non-moored) vessel. It allows for a safe passage through the dangerous area close to the vessels thrusters and also offers the user added protection if the vessel should accidentally move off station.
