The Western Australian Museum has received final approvals to build the Welcome Walls at Fremantle.

In a project of this kind, many stakeholders have to be consulted. The Western Australian Museum has worked closely with Fremantle Ports to receive approval from the Department of Lands, the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the City of Fremantle.

Final approval was received last week from the Western Australian Planning Commission. This brings the Fremantle Welcome Walls another step closer to completion.

The next stage will involve preparation of tender and construction documents.

The project is on track for completion in the second half of 2010.
