Ante Yakas migrated at the age of 25. He was a pioneer market gardener in Spearwood and proud to become an Australian Citizen. He was a member of the South Fremantle Football Club and a WA State Lawn Bowler (Cockburn Bowling Club). He had a wife (Elsie) and three children, Boris, Kevin and Lorraine.
