Herbert's wife Clara and sons Louis and George arrived in December 1911. He enlisted in the AIF in February 1916 and served as a stretcher bearer in France during WWI. George died during this time. They bore two more children Phillis and Herbert. Herbert . Herbert Snr. died on 6th October 1966.
