Jack, Doris & 3 children settled in Piawaning, 1948. Purchased 3000 acres of bushland, cleared and started farming. They lived in at tin shack while making cement bricks for the home they built themselves. In 1950, after the birth of another child they bought a shoe stroe in Mandurah. Doris died of cancer 1973.
