Montague arrived in Australia aged 18 years. He was a cattle drover in Queensland, prior to running a vineyard with his brother in Victoria. He commenced farming at 'Wonston' Yarloop in 1894. Four generations of the Wickham family proudly and productively farmed at ‘Wonston'. In 2006 industry forced the sale of the property.
