Rev Arthur Ernest White was a member (1912-1916) of the Brotherhood of St Boniface, based at Williams. Enlisting as a chaplain (44th Battalion A.I.F) he served in France until medically discharged. In 1929 he became Rector of St John's, Albany and in 1930 inaugurated the first Anzac Day Dawn Service.
