The family ran a fruit and vegie shop for a few years, in Northam, the returned to Perth to live. Clifford was employed as a Journalist by the Daily News until his retirement. Another daughter was born in WA and he lost his wife during childbirth. His eldest daughter Betty married the son of Domenica & Domenko Giumelli who came to Australia in late 1890's.
