Departed Scotland on 3rd January 1923. Arrived Albany 8th February 1923 on TSS Diogenes. Obtained work at Eden, Youngs Siding as a farmhand. He was a great teamster & had experience in growing potatoes. Worked for 25/- a week plus keep. He talked of assisting with the opening of the sandbar Wilson's Inlet/Ocean Beach, Denmark with the horses. As work ran out he left on 28th August & obtained seasonal work harvesting & hay cutting etc.on various places until part-time jobs on farms & the School of Agriculture Narrogin. The School of Agriculture employed him fulltime from 1926 to 1935/6. Wages were around £4 a week plus keep. He eventually purchased a farm in 1935 at West Wagin - just 100 acres cleared. He developed & ran the property with his son & 2 grandsons. They bought up nearby land. As most Agriculture reps, visitors said of him: Everything had a place, & everything in it's place. They never needed to go to farm advisors. He married in early 1936 & had a son, William Robertson Watson & three daughters. His grandsons are Gary & Kevin Watson. Harry returned to Albany & so has William. Information from Isabel Lutz (nee Watson) Darkan.
