Born Ellistown, Leicestershire. Son of coalminer William & wife Sarah, who had eleven children. In 1923 he immigrated with friend Jack Knight. He was a farmhand & eventually purchased his own farm, after great hardship. In 1932 he married Annie Gladys Robson. They had three children - William E, Eileen G & Neil J & twelve grandchildren. Resided in Datatine & Katanning districts all his life.
