On arrival immediately found work in the Goldfields. Shortly after the migration of his wife (Agnese Bonola) in 1940 he was interned, spending time in Fremantle Prison, Rottnest and Harvey Camp. Released November 1940. Settled in Spearwood where their family grew up. Became self employed in the firewood/timber industry.
