Fernando came to Australia and had only intended to stay for a short while. He passed through Fremantle disembarking in Sydney but eventually settled back in Perth, WA. After some time labouring on road construction he established his own cabinet making business. He sent for his fiancee, Palina, with whom he made a future in WA.
