John Van Vlijmen, a dutchman, met his wife Lisa, a German citizen during WW2. John and Lisa emigrated to Australia in 1952 with three children Maria, Joseph and Stephan. Upon arrival at Fremantle the family was transferred to Northam Camp and some time later moved to Graylands. The Vanvlijmen's produced three more children Helen, Mark and Vincent.
