Both parents keen musicians - brass wood-wind and violin. Father in forced labour camp in Germany World War Two. Six years Dutch Naval Service - five in Indonesia. Paid family passages to provide a "Better Future in Perth's Perfect Climate". Member of City of Perth Band until death in 1962.
