On arrival spent 1 week in Northam at the old army camp. Went by train to Kwolyin to work on a farm. Married in May 1954 to Jannigje van der Stel and then set up a fencing business, operated the Hannaford Grader and then started share farming in Shackleton with the Tippet family. Worked with the family for 37 years and then moved to Perth. Descendants include 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
