Read their story

Josephus joined the Dutch navy during WW2 and was on duty in the Indonesian Islands. He came to Fremantle for R&R. He was billeted to the Tooke family of the Ferguson Valley, Dardanup. After the war he returned to the same valley and gained employment with a local building contractor (J.M. Best & Son) as a carpenter. He soon married Marie Annie Tooke (aka Ann). They had 4 children: Joann (1954), Peter and Richard (twins 1956) and Terry (1961) in the family home, which he and Ann built.
