On his arrival Henry Townsend was to operate in partnership with Sir Richard Spencer and his son under the name 'Spencer, Townsend & Spencer', but the partnership failed after early disagreement and was dissolved. Henry Townsend later settled on a property known as Townsend Creek on the north shore of Oyster Harbour between the King & Kalgan Rivers (Block Location 28).
