He came alone. His wife, May Frances Tothill, nee Darch, came later on the DEMOSTHENIS via the Cape to Albany. She was accompanied by their son Peter Walter Roland Tothill and daughter Patricia Anne Tothill. Two more children, Betty and John Richard were born in Australia.
