Aged 16 joined merchant D/S MARPESIA. Served: Belgian Army Dunkerque. Antwerp: Arrested by Gestapo and imprisoned in Buchen. Escaped, joined RN. 1944 transferred M/S FERNBANK Free Norwegian Forces. Became physiotherapist. En-route to the USA married RAAF widow. Opened Fremantle physiotherapy practice, then Government backdated Legislation and enforced closure. Years of long struggles enabled physio reemployment at Sunset Hospital.
