Leaving his family, he ventured to WA, working in country towns as a labourer finally settling in Fremantle, establishing several small cafe/restaurant businesses. He brought his wife, Anastasia, and 3 children to join him in the late 1940s, his eldest daughter and many other relatives in the 1960s.
