After arrival in Fremantle, Ladislaus & Romana travelled by train to Northam Camp. They stayed there for five weeks. Both were sent to Gwalia Goldmines. Laddie worked as a miner. Romana worked as a cook in the camp. From Gwalia they went to Kalgoorlie until 1954.
