Captain Job Augustus Symonds arrived in Albany 1887. He was Lighthouse Keeper at Breaksea Island from 1887-1894 & then a diver, laying the telecommunications cable from Albany to Breaksea. Job was the last pilot to serve on Rottnest Island from 1901-1903 after which he was Assistant Harbourmaster at Bunbury. Job went into the Navy during W.W.I after which time he settled around Bundaberg & Cairns, QLD. Job died aged 88 years in Cairns, QLD.
