Made redundant from the ship building industry in Sunderland after World War I. George worked briefly on a dairy farm in North England before coming to Western Australia on an Ex-Service Assisted Passage & was sent to Wubin-Buntine-Jibberding farming area, where he pioneered a virgin block.
