Alex bought a store in Nedlands. The Depression came and he went to the country for work. Upon returning, the manager had shut shop and left it empty. Alex married Evelyn Watson in 1933, settled in Kalgoorlie with children Evelyn, Russell, Beryl and Allan. They returned to Perth in 1951.
