Left Liverpool on the Runic for Australia arriving in Albany, WA on 11/7/1914 the day World War I was declared. He was invited to come and teach at the deaf school at Mosman Park by the then Premier of WA. He later married having eight children of which seven survived. Six became teachers, leaving their mark on the state. The other one was a nurse. 8/5/1926 married Miriam Esther Moore b 22/7/06 d 17/6/1982. Isaac b 16/5/1927 d 16/5/1927, Esther Elizabeth b 14/6/1928, Mary Rebecca b 31/10/1929, Ruth Miriam b 04/1/1932, Paul Joseph b 11/11/1933, Martha Rhoda b 10/4/1937, James Samuel b 23/6/1939 & Anna Priscilla b 03/7/1943. His mother, three sisters and one brother followed landing in Fremantle, WA.
