Went on to become a pioneer of the Mallee region, farming at Kumarl, north of Salmon Gums. Retired to Esperance in 1964. Buried at Salmon Gums. His first wife with whom he had four more daughters passed away and he married Lily Kelly in 1952. They had one daughter.
