After arriving in Fremantle, she was met by her father (Varthalamo) and two brothers (Arthur & Paraskeva), only two months later, he mother died, which meant being the eldest daughter she has the responsibility of caring and bringing the family up, until she married Nicholas Spartlais in 1921.
