Richard, carpenter / farmer indentured to Henry Camfield. Soon free of indenture. He farmed at Herdsman Lake, Guildford and later at Helena Valley where he built now historic house "Clayton" now occupied by "Dirk" family. His descendents have farmed at Wongamine, Toodjay, York, Goomalling, Minnivale, Dandaragan, Colingeri, Chittering Brook. Owner of Smiths Mill, now Glen Forrest.

  • According to the obituary of Richards son Alfred, Richard built the first coffin at the colony (drowned sailor), and also helped build first govt house (a cottage). Obituary can be found in Trove.
