Emily arrived in Perth with sister Mary Buchanan, daughter Ruth and son Donald. They joined her four sons & families. Her husband Robert Boddington Smart held an important position in the Survey of India. All 9 children enjoyed productive lives. She is buried in the family plot in Karrakatta.
