Read their story

Born into a family of 8 children in East Poland. When WWII broke out the family were forced to relocate. At the age of 17, Zygmunt joined the underground movement & stayed in that service until 1945. This involved walking for 5 months from Poland to Czechoslavakia where, on the 05/05/1945 he was involved in Liberation of women prisoners of war, held in a concentration camp. It was not possible politically to return to Poland and Zygmunt decided to immigrate. He chose Australia to be as far away as possible from war-torn Europe.
