The 'Group Settlement' scheme was a failure. In 1933 my parents accepted the offer to cook at Kingsley Fairbridge Farm school for nearly 400 children. In 1940, dad joined the Australian Army as a musician. Mum continued working at Fairbridge. The family moved to Perth in late 1942.

  • Bessie Shugar died just before a planned trip to visit their relatives in England. Arthur made the trip on his own and was reunited with his two sisters. My Mother is their cousin and I remember seeing him on his visits to London
