Cono Sgro arrived from Sicily in 1912, Aged 22. Until 1920 he worked at Welington Timber Mills, then established Oceania Trading Exhange to supply Italian foods and wine from his vineyard to ships in the Italian community. Married in 1927, he and Matilda. Raised four children who married and settled in Fremantle.
