In 1838, John blazed a trail to Bunbury to find good farming land for Governor Stirling. His wife Ellen (Helen) was a midwife & attended the birth of Lord Forrest. In 1847 John & a son built the Picton Church. John & Helen (Ellen) had two sons, William Frederick b.1821 in Scotland & Daniel McGregor b.1815, died 1898.

John and Helen also had a son called John Scott, he married into the Roberts family and owned the property called strathern, which is located between Bunbury and capel

The scott family of Western Australia are my desentents on my mother's side her family name is pyane, my mother's is Lila Mary pyane

Our history group re-enacts the 'blazing of the trail' every so often, we walk a part of the trail and give blazing a go.
It's hard work ! Everybody should experience being blazed. Blazing in the scrub is really fun and gives a good sense of the early days. I really like it. Thanks to those hardy
