Maria Salomone arrived with her two young daughters, Anna Maria 5 years 9 months and Giovanna 4 years 2 months. Her husband, Nicola, had arrived previously in 1959 to prepare the way for the family. A third daughter, Rita Emilia, was born in 1967.
