Because of the unrest, due to India gaining independence & following much soul-searching, Richie & Olga decided to move to Australia. Initially they stayed with Jim & Kathleen Donald (Richie's half-sister), but bought in Joondanna as soon as possible. Peter Gerard's arrival in 1953 completed the family.
