Emigrated to join his father Antonio, who operated the Haoma and Maranca Goldmines at Mt Monger, WA. Stefano worked as a miner up to 1957 for the Lakewood Firewood Co from 1957-1959 cutting timber, then worked operating earthmoving machinery at Coolan Island's iron ore mines from 1959-1962.
